DVD presentation of museum layout, history, story of founder, art collection, current director and garden staff, garden ranking by the Journal of Japanese Gardening, and training program. English sub-titles.
Part 2 (23 minutes): The Gardens in the Four Seasons - DVD presentation
Part 3 (15 minutes): Presentation of the Gardens Maintenance section of the DVD with explanation by John Powell. English sub-titles.

About Our Speakers
Mr. Wataru Takeda:
Wataru Takeda is the Section Chief of the Business and Public Relations Department at the Adachi Museum of Art. Mr. Takeda started working at the museum in 1992 in one of the restaurants until his special skills in working with the public were discovered by the museum director, Adachi-san. Since then his duties have grown to include coordination of media events, emissary for foreign visitors and occasional work in the gardens with the garden staff.
Mr. John Powell:
John Powell is a Japanese style garden builder and pruning specialist from Weatherford Texas. Mr. Powell is a 1983 graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in Forestry. He is currently the co-owner of Weatherford Gardens Nursery and Landscaping. After a first visit to Japan in 1993, Mr. Powell launched an intensive study of Japanese garden history, design, construction and maintenance. In 1997, he attended the first Japanese Garden Seminar conducted by the Kyoto University of Art & Design, followed by internships with Suzuki Zoen in Niigata, and most recently at the Adachi Museum of Art in Shimane Prefecture, Japan. Mr. Powell is also a staff writer for The Journal of Japanese Gardening.
Mr. Kiyoharu Mori (California presentation only):
Kiyoharu Mori is the current Deputy Director of the Adachi Museum of Art. Prior to his current post he served as the Deputy Director of Project Finance for the Development Bank of Japan. Mr. Mori is a 1975 graduate of Keio University in Tokyo, Japan with a degree in Economics. |
